Russian Speaking Program Aide

The L’Chaim Adult Day Health Center is a licensed facility and outpatient center that provides medical, social, and therapy services for Russian-speaking older adults and individuals with disabilities. We have been a haven of person-centered care and community support for thousands of emigre clients from San Francisco and San Mateo for over 25 years.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Adult Day Health Care Nurse II and Activity Coordinator, the Program Aide is responsible for providing personal care and meals to the center’s participants. The Program Aide understands and assists in meeting budget and services goals, understands the mission and objectives of Jewish Family and Children’s Services and works within the limitations of the Agency’s resources and performs all duties in compliance with agency standards.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range: $18.25 – $22.00/hr (depending on experience)

Schedule: Monday – Friday (8:30AM – 5:30PM)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, monitors participants’ vital signs and weight

Monitor and reports bowel and bladder problems and any physical problems to the Registered Nurse

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides personal care to participants which may include helping participants with toileting, transferring, personal hygiene and dressing
-
Assists participants to and from the van

Distributes meals and snacks to participants. Cuts food and helps participants eat as required
-
Light maintenance and housekeeping duties. Keeps main room, nursing area and bathrooms clean free from spills and waste

Communicates appropriately with clients, caregivers, family members and staff in accordance with person centered care best practices

Under the supervision of the Physical or Occupational Therapist, implements the Physical or Occupational Therapy maintenance program as needed

Under the supervision of the Activity Coordinator, helps implement the activity schedule. Participate or lead activities as required. Socialize with participants. Assist Activity Coordinator with special events and parties

Performs other duties as assigned by the administrator and/or the Program Director
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate and demonstrable aptitude working with older adults

Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with participants, professional staff, families and caregivers

Must be bilingual in English and Russian

Experience working in a day care program preferred

Must acquire CPR and First Aid certificates within six months of employment and maintain current certificates thereafter
-
California Home Health Aide certificate a plus

Provide a health examination, signed by a physician, and a TB clearance, which is not more than 12 months prior to employment or within seven (7) days of employment
