Nutrition Program
Since our inception, JFCS has been committed to making sure that those in our community who are hungry, or are at risk of hunger, have enough to eat.
Our Food Bank provides sustenance throughout the year to many of our clients in need in San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties.
JFCS also helps nourish hundreds of individuals annually through a range of programs:
JFCS’ Chicken Souper volunteers (with our community partners) prepare and deliver hearty meals every other week to adults with disabilities, AIDS, or other chronic illnesses.
Our Kosher Meals on Wheels program in San Francisco delivers hot, nutritious meals to frail, homebound seniors with a kosher tradition. Our partnership with Rhoda Goldman Plaza makes this service possible. We thank them for catering these delicious meals.
High Holiday Food Drive and Outreach
During the holidays, JFCS’ special outreach to hundreds of seniors, emigres, and people with disabilities provides personal deliveries of special foods at Hanukkah, Passover, and the High Holidays.
We also hold an annual food drive during the High Holidays and with the help of many community partners throughout our five regions JFCS raises and collects nearly seven tons of food each year!

Support for our food programs, as well as other major support for JFCS programs, comes from individual donors, awards from civic groups and synagogues, and foundation and corporate grants. Special thanks to Koret Foundation, Federation Newhouse Fund, and Sinai Memorial Chapel.
Kosher Meals on Wheels is partially funded by the City of San Francisco’s Department of Disability and Aging Services.
