Emergency Family Assistance
Helping members of our community with basic survival during times of crisis is our highest priority. Through the Taube Family Emergency Assistance Fund, JFCS helps people regain and maintain their self-sufficiency and independence.
Critical Financial Assistance
JFCS’s Financial Aid Center offers short-term loans and grants to Jewish residents of the Bay Area to help them meet basic living expenses, such as food, housing, medical care, and other vital necessities. Last year, thousands of families were given emergency assistance to help them weather a personal or family crisis and regain their strength.
Comprehensive Case Management
Our assistance does not stop there. As part of a comprehensive case-management plan, we work with individuals and families to create budgets and plans that help them regain self-sufficiency.
In times of personal crises or challenges, we help individuals and families get back on their feet through food, mental health counseling, domestic violence services, spiritual care, and more.

Major support is provided by the Koret Foundation, the Newton and Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust, and the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund’s Newhouse Fund. Additional support is provided by generous individual donors and foundations, and the ongoing support from named endowed funds.
