Pastry Chef

Pay Range: $31.00 – $31.93 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Type: Temporary (March 2025 – May 2025), Non-exempt position without benefits

Shift and Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday (5:00AM – 1:30PM)

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Pastry Chef experience of 5 years; Senior facilities experience is preferred

What are the Qualifications?

  • Knowledgeable in a variety of recipes applicable in a kosher guideline kitchen; Ability to create and execute a variety of recipes to attend to kitchen needs
  • Must undergo a Physical exam and Tuberculosis Screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment
  • Must obtain clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment
  • Must read, understand, and sign the Report of Suspected Physical Abuse of a Dependent Elder (SOC341A)

What Will I Be Doing?

  • Design and prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and confections, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation for meal services, special events and the café following the direction of the Executive Chef
  • Experiment with new recipes and techniques to innovate and enhance the dessert menu
  • Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies for the pastry kitchen, ensuring freshness and quality
  • Work closely with the kitchen staff to coordinate dessert service and special events; Supervise Assistant Pastry staff, providing guidance on techniques and presentation
  • Maintain a clean and organized pastry kitchen, adhering to all health and safety regulations; Ensure all equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly
