YouthFirst College Intern (August 2024-June 2025)

The YouthFirst program helps teens develop life skills for young adulthood through Jewish values-based programs, including service-learning, leadership development, internships, and career exploration. We help teens develop the necessary life skills to move into young adulthood smoothly, successfully, and responsibly.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Regional Director, the YouthFirst College Intern assists with all aspects of the YouthFirst programming. The YF College Intern understands and assists in meeting the mission and service goals of Jewish Family and Children’s Services and works within the limitations of the Agency’s resources and performs all duties in compliance with agency standards.

  • Pay Range: $20/hour (Mid August start date and ends approximately on June 6, 2025)

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports the Regional Director with the following:

  • Outreach to local schools, Jewish organizations, youth groups, and synagogues to identify students who could benefit from participation in YouthFirst programs
  • Represents JFCS in the community to inspire support and involvement of potential participants and collaborating organizations
  • Maintains regional database and disseminates information to prospective participants and community partners
  • Creates outreach materials/social media content for YouthFirst programs
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key contacts at YSOs in the local community, including synagogues, schools, Jewish Community Centers, and Jewish summer camps
  • Contributes to the implementation of a range of relevant and meaningful programmatic opportunities that build teens’ connections to each other and the wider community, including service learning and advocacy projects; leadership development; internships; and career exploration
  • Delivers programs, in accordance with program standards, including planning activities, working with teens and community partners, managing logistics, and following up to ensure smooth operations
  • Contributes to the integration of social media strategies into program planning, promotion, and implementation
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Regional Director

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current college student is required
  • Must be flexible in schedule and is able to work weekends and evenings, as required
  • Must have great organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks/assignments at once
  • Previous 1 year experience working with youth, and the issues that affect them (academic support, career exploration, service learning, leadership) is highly preferred
  • Must be engaging and promote a positive environment within the youth program
