Homelessness and Family Violence: New Lives

Michelle D. fought for her life and the life of her young daughter, Rachel.* At a time when she was most alone, JFCS’ Dream Program offered Michelle a safe, nurturing refuge from an abusive marriage that ended tragically. With the expert help she needed, Michelle found the strength to create the family life she always dreamed of.

Debbie Findling and Abby Porth

JFCS Healing Services and the World’s First Memory Garden

Devastated by the unexpected loss of a pregnancy or baby, grieving families need somewhere to turn. Thanks to the vision of Debbie Findling and Abby Porth, the beautiful Memory Garden is the nation’s first such Jewish sacred space, and was created through a unique communal partnership of Sinai Memorial Chapel and JFCS’ extensive Healing, Spiritual Care, and Chaplaincy Services.

Susan Lowenberg and Joyce Newstat
