Rhoda Goldman Plaza residents, Selma Epstein and Betty Platt are always ready to lend a helping hand. Several times each month, they assist the JFCS staff with preparing mailings---collating materials, folding flyers, stuffing envelopes, affixing labels---for a variety of JFCS programs including Café-by-the-Bay, the Tenderloin Outreach, and SeniorsˇAtˇHome. And no matter how many pieces there are to assemble or how long it takes, these tireless volunteers are committed to ensuring that "the mail must go through!"
During this past summer, Selma and Betty took several of the émigré teens who were interning at JFCS under their wings and taught them the ropes of mail assembly. A good time was had by all and the ladies found being around "the young folks" a welcome change from their daily routine.
Staying active and continuing to volunteer is very important to these ladies. Each time the JFCS staff looks at another finished mailing assembled by this terrific pair of seniors, we're so very grateful for the gift of their time, talents, and loving hearts.
