As a person over 50, you've done a lot of living and had a lot of experiences. Your talents and wisdom are particularly valuable gifts. Volunteering at JFCS allows you to give some of that much-needed knowledge and compassion back into our community. It's also a great way to meet new friends and to help those in need.

Whether you have an hour a week or an hour a month, JFCS has the perfect volunteer opportunity to fit your interests and your schedule. All volunteers receive training, ongoing supervision and support.

Volunteer Opportunities Ideal for Seniors

Senior Companions
Visit with isolated seniors, offering friendship, companionship and support.
(Available in all regions)

Holiday Outreach Volunteers
Visit Bay Area nursing and retirement homes during the holidays to help Jewish seniors celebrate Rosh Hashana, Chanukah, Purim and Passover. You can visit homes alone or in groups. (Available in all regions)

Be The Wheels Escort Program
If you are still behind the wheel, you can help take other seniors to medical appointments and help with grocery shopping. Mileage is reimbursed. (Available in all regions)

Visitors for Holocaust Survivor Services
Bring your special interest in and sensitivity to the Holocaust as you visit with survivors. (Available in SF, Marin, and on the Peninsula)

Lunch N' Learn
Assist at this monthly luncheon and lecture for Holocaust Survivors. (San Francsico only)

Administrative Support
Assist JFCS staff with mailings, hand-addressing, filing, general clerical support, and answering phones. (Available in all regions)
