Helping an Old Friend: Max's Story
When he was forced to leave his native Egypt and came to the Bay Area 35 years ago, JFCS welcomed Max with open arms, helping him prepare for job interviews and find and furnish an apartment. Now 81 and suffering from a variety of physical ailments, including extremely limited vision due to botched cataract surgery, Max once again turned to JFCS for help.

JFCS responded by signing Max up for the JFCS Kosher Meals on Wheels program so he gets nutritious kosher meals delivered to his home. He also has a Seniors-At-Home aide to help him with bathing and dressing, and his own Seniors•At•Home caseworker to check in on him regularly and make sure that he has everything he needs to continue living a safe, healthy life in his own home.
